The Africa Research Excellence Fund (AREF) is proud to announce the two recipients of the 2025 Tumani Corrah Prize for Excellence: Dr. Gibril Ndow (First Place Winner) and Dr. Danai Tavonga Zhou (Second Runner-Up).
The Tumani Corrah Prize for Excellence celebrates AREF alumni who have demonstrated remarkable success and broad impact in their chosen field of research and across the wider African health research landscape. The prize is open to a rotating cohort of alumni, based on the completion year of their AREF programme.
These distinguished winners were selected based on their commitment to advancing AREF’s core vision: creating a talented community of world-class researchers in Africa. Since its inception, AREF has supported 967 alumni who are now leading cutting-edge research and participating equitably in international research endeavours for health and wellbeing.
