AREF invites you to join insightful panellists discussing how  post-doctoral capacity training in Africa can advance innovative research to tackle common infectious and non-communicable diseases, and emerging global pandemics. With climate change adding to the threat to lives and livelihoods, strengthening health research and innovation in Africa and beyond is more important than ever.

Speakers will emphasise how increasing investments in African post-doctoral training also supports the attainment of key SDG’s: SDG3 ‘Good Health and Wellbeing’, SDG4 ‘Quality Education’, SDG8 ‘Decent work and economic growth’, SDG9 ‘Foster Innovation’, SDG10 ‘Reduce Inequality’, SDG13‘Climate Action and SDG17 ‘Partnerships for the Goals’.

Through a discussion of the best practices from different countries across the continent, their plans of action to bring post-doctoral training and education to the agenda, the panel will also explore the historical context, progress, and challenges in African higher education.
